I understand something now: that which we fear, we somehow beckon near and engage in a dance, as toxically intimate as a pair of suspicious lovers. Perhaps it’s because deep down we want to face it. Perhaps it’s just the way the universe works; we’re magnetized waltzers and our hopes and fears emit some kind of electrical impulses that attract all that we dream, and all that we dread. We live and die on a dance floor of our own making. ~ Karen Marie Moning, Feversong

When The Music's Over

A SUPER Spoilery Discussion of Feversong by Karen Marie Moning by: Zee the Terrible and Barbara Bones By Olga. It's now been two weeks since we got our hot little hands on Feversong , the final book in the Mac & Barrons part of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. It's almost all we can talk about in the Saucy Wenches hallways (which is really online, but you get the drift) and we have lots of thoughts and opinions so we aren't putting off our Super Spoilery Recap Extravaganza any longer!  Zee told you about how much she loved it in her Wench review, here , and it will surprise exactly no one that Barb did, too. Loved it to pieces. Thought it was pretty much perfect, exactly the kind of conclusion KMM has been promising us since she gave us Iced , leaving everyone precisely where they need to be. That said, we have lots and lots and LOTS of thoughts. So come with us through the jump where we're dishing all the dirt, in filthy, spoilery detail. We menti

There are many, many types of books in the world, which makes good sense, because there are many, many types of people, and everybody wants to read something different. For instance, people who hate stories in which terrible things happen to small children should put this book down immediately. But one type of book that practically no one likes to read is a book about the law. Books about the law are notorious for being very long, very dull, and very difficult to read. This is one reason many lawyers make heaps of money. The money is an incentive - the word "incentive" here means "an offered reward to persuade you to do something you don't want to do" - to read long, dull, and difficult books. My 2017 Must Read List

Image
www.pexels.com What books have I prioritised for this year? In the last couple of years I've made myself a must read list of books for the coming year. Sometimes they're books that I've been putting off reading for a while. Other times they are new releases that are just begging to be read as soon as they come out. Let's look after the jump to see what I have on my list for this coming year.

Barrons glided toward me in that eerie, fluid fashion, stopped, and laced our hands together.  We would hold on to each other until the last.  Sun, moon, and stars , I told him. He inclined his head. Of all the years, this one with you has been my finest. Fire to my ice, Mac. Frost to my flame, Jericho. Forever , we said, and it was a vow far more powerful and binding than any ring or piece of paper.  Feversong ~~Karen Marie Moning

"All right, Sentinel. You have your second chance at Valentine's Day. But I'll warn you in advance. I'm starving...and not just for food." That comment made me light-headed enough that it was a miracle I didn't fall over in the foyer. Biting Bad by Chloe Neill

Wenches Take New Orleans

Image
Last year, a group of five Wenches had a fantastic trip to New Orleans to celebrate the release of Karen Marie Moning's Feverborn . You can read Wench Zee's recap of that here . The Fever series, in case it wasn't clear from the ridiculous amount of posts and love we show this amazing series, is what brought all of the Wenches together irrevocably. So, when Karen announced that the Feversong release would also be in New Orleans, we all started planning and saving. Incredibly, TEN Wenches and Wench friends made the trip of a lifetime to New Orleans this year! We had the trip of a lifetime. We spent an amazing five plus days in the Crescent City, exploring, shopping, eating, and celebrating with each other and other Maniacs. I'm here today to give you the details of our amazing trip! I'm not sure anything I say will do it justice, but I will do my level best. Fair warning, this may get long. We had five plus days of fabulousness! Keep reading after the break to

“We are not going to die." Butters stared up at me, pale, his eyes terrified. "We're not?" "No. And do you know why?" He shook his head. "Because Thomas is too pretty to die. And because I'm too stubborn to die." I hauled on the shirt even harder. "And most of all because tomorrow is Oktoberfest, Butters, and polka will never die.”

I've always known what you need. Someone to rage at who's strong enough to take all the pain and fury you have to dish out until you've burned it out of your system and nothing is left but a pile of ashes from which the Phoenix rises. Kid, woman, whatever the hell you are--I want to see you rise. Even if you have to hate me.  Feversong ~~Karen Marie Moning

To Hell & Back

Image
By Olga the Awesome. Phew, readers. It's been a hell of a ride. It took me a while to decompress after Fevercon in NOLA. No, staying in the Zone wasn't easy. But for a lot of us-- certainly for me-- it was the only option. I'd rather make do in New Orleans than be rich anywhere else. The Veil by Chloe Neill Picture by Wench Zee

“I love you, Ethan, and I love this city. And however much I fought, I love this goddamn House. It's part of me, and I'm part of it. I'm not going to stand here and watch a man tear down everything that you've build. I'm not. And if that means I have to chase another man who threatens this House, or apologize to you more than I like, so be it. I don't want that, but I can live with it. Because I can't live without you.”  ―  Chloe Neill ,  Midnight Marked

What The Wenches Are Reading

The Dangling Plot Line: The Fever Series

Image
As regular readers know quite well, the majority of us are completely, totally, 100% obsessed with Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. We've written numerous posts about it. Several of us have traveled to New Orleans to attend release parties for this series. We've all read the whole series multiple times. If you look at our What the Wenches are Reading posts, you'll see that every couple of months someone pops back in to the Fever world. I think you get the idea. We are now on to the final book in the series, Feversong . Yes, I know Ms. Moning will be writing two more books set in the Fever world. But, we don't know what those are going to be yet. We don't know if those will be Mac's story or Dani's story. So, for all intents and purposes, this is it. The final chapter. Considering this is the final book in this arc, there are a pretty good amount of loose ends to tie up. That's why I'm here today. I'm going to discuss the major story li

But, even if they've seen (and actually noticed) you doing daily five-minute pickups, that first time as a family will be rough and not the least bit fun. Your otherwise intelligent children may claim to have never known where scissors or glue or toothpaste go. They will suddenly feel exhausted and suffer headaches and leg pain, and they may stare blankly over your shoulder in confusion when you remind them where you've kept the laundry hamper for all the days of their lives.
